Just gained $4000 for breach of copyright

So you caught someone using your content? How did you catch them, and actually get them to pay?

Just subpoena your info, your billing info, etc. It would not be hard to find you if someone wanted to.

 

Note: As soon as you put your piece on a transferable medium (a piece of paper. A CD. A hard drive. All transferable mediums.) it's a legal copyright.

Basically you got lucky. You could have altered the date on the Word document quite easily as long as you have basic Word knowledge.

i know this is an old thread but i would like to ask if that applies to all countries like you can send them a letter, theyre being sued. what if its in asia? can you sue them too/?

 

You got quite lucky that the individual decided to settle so quickly. That could have been a messy court case for you.

 

I would have sent them an email and asked them nicely to take the content down, but that's just me.

 

Congrats friend for your winning of case.. but date on a word file can be edited by some tools na ?? I have never done but a friend of mine was telling it.. moreover u can use Google or any other search engine cached pages or indexing date as a proof
