I'm working on a new site for a mini-net I'm putting together. . . The site is Analects.Org . . . I've got about 1 million words of content, but it's not up yet. The main issue that I have is with the mini-net links on the nav column . . . Does anyone have an idea about how I can make that look nicer? Should I miniaturize them into buttons and put them on the main page content? Any other suggestions as well. Thanks
Just SUPERB design for the related content. Like the color scheme too. Good luck with it. and its nice to see people promoting tactics and dynasties etc.
Thanks for the well wishes. If you didn't read my other post about brick and mortar businesses . . . I live in South Korea right now (and Thailand before that, and India before that) and in the next two months I'm moving to China, to be near to cheap manufacturing sources because I want to create a brand related to my main interest, which is martial arts (with an emphasis on the art, i.e. using your body as a vehicle to better understand yourself). So developing all of these content heavy sites is really just a prelude to gaining more social authority and social trustrank (If nobody's coined that, I just did!), and to drive traffic to what will ultimately be my online business presence. I have massive amounts of questions and feedback that I want to be asking the dp community in the next few months, but I'll try not to derail this one ... Any further criticisms, feedback or comments about the site in question? It's seo'd internally, I feel marginally comfortable with the design except for the links to the other network sites, and it's time to start putting up staggering amounts of content, and then send the people over.
Site is working fine from my end. Actually I agree about the navigation and the symbols. What I would really like to do . . . Is create some type of 3d button that's just about 300% bigger than a chicklet, using the existing logos. Something that looks glossy and punched out, like a glossy dome shaped button. Anyone have a recommendation for a graphics program that would serve me well with that? I can make some ok logos and stuff, but basically that's all menu driven stuff, and I'm not competent as a graphic designer. Will probably also resize the links in the nav sidebar. I know that when I'm ready to launch this stuff I can drive tons of free, interested traffic to my sites, but this is really the first time I've tried to do something semi-professionally and not completely plastered with adsense and unreadable text, so I really appreciate any help or suggestions I can get.
Main image on the front page is way too big. Maybe you should place it in the header after shrinking it or something.
thanks for the suggestions tiddle and zerosleep. I'll think about this stuff and then make a decision and some changes over the weekend. Now I have to watch some movies and upload articles. Or start, anyway.
The yellow shades and green shades are not colors that i will look at them for long. why not use a white background style ? Much easier to the eyes. there's a reason why major sites .. all use white.
