Well, it's caused by the insulin producing cells in the pancreas not working properly (or at all). Insulin is a hormone that controls the amount of glucose in the blood - specifically it converts glucose in the blood into stored sugar in cells (in the form of glycogen). Anything else?
Google it my friend Mother has She is to take her medication + can't eat evrything (sweets sugar that;s a big NO)
Type 2 - also called maturity onset / non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus - is a condition usually contracted by older folk. It's rare for someone of your age to get it. It is attributable to poor diet and being overweight. Depending on the severity you might not need injections - dietary control and tablets would be usual. If you remain disciplined about your diet and medication it shouldn't cause you too many problems.
Most cases are due to bad diet. As I said, it's unusual for someone as young as you to get Type 2. You're obviously a slightly unusual case. The key thing is that if you look after your diet, have regular meals, take your medication as directed then you shouldn't have any problems.
One of my mates, he is around 40 odd, has type 2 diabetes. He doesn't need injections or insulin etc, around 3 months ago he was a little unwell however, feeling a little sick, like when you have a cold. Not sure if it is the same for you but, just check it out and see what you can find out about it. Daniel
You have to control your sugar level for the rest of your life...diet and exercise, may be medicines...as your doctor would prescribe. Don't worry, you'll be fine!

There are two kinds of Diabetes. One is Diabetes Mellitus and other is Diabetes Insipidus. Diabetes Mellitus is also of two types. One is IDDM i.e. Insulin dependant diabetes mellitus and other one is NIDDM which is Non insulin Dependant diabetes mellitus. If you are diagnosed type 2 that means your case is of NIDDM. dont take stress because here adrenaline and glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids and ADH are mainly doing their work. They mobilise glucose in your body when stressfull condition arises. So better not to take stress. Dont think too much. Stay Happy
