Hi guys, its my first post here! Just created a blog, to update people on the financial crisis, and its day to day activities. http://www.mysweetmoney.com/ basically im after some feedback, dont bite! I'm new to all this. And also how to market this to just get x amount of hits a day. Any ideas appreciated. Regards
Created it? Now feed it, then share it. Mere sharing at DP will not work. Do some social bookmarking and start submitting slowly to directories. A nice and easy idea to visit solicitations and announcements section of Directories and submit your blog in new directories. (Some of them have decent PR too). They will approve your blog quickly) Stay active on forum too and see what people discuss in marketing. Good luck and cheers!
Cheers mate for the reply. Yeah i will be staying active on the forum, Some of the terminology im a bit confused about. A nice and easy idea to visit solicitations and announcements section of Directories and submit your blog in new directories. (Some of them have decent PR too). They will approve your blog quickly) What do you mean by this? Cheers
I don't want to rain on your parade, but there's not exactly a lack of info and opinion on the current financial situation out there - every newspaper, news bulletin, newspaper and news broadcaster website, as well as established financial blogs, are giving it saturation coverage. If you want to get read you need an entirely new and original angle on it. And proof read your own copy - I can see typos e.g "wost month" "Piubs"
To get some traffic add unique content every day and find out some less competitive and high traffic keyword.
You made a blog post, thanks for joining the other few thousand DP members who make blog posts daily. You need to just put your blog link in your sig and also put it in the rss feed option in your profile. You shouldn't make a thread each time you do a blog post just to help you out from getting banned or get a negative backlash every time.
Okay, i am only learning.. That is my plan, research the news and rework the information so its relevant and intice people to read! Thats a good idea, thanks, going to have to try and find a way to do that and think about it.
I meant, go here and submit - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65 You'll find good and upcoming directories with decent approval rate.
Hey mate I advise you read some of the articles on my website especially in this section http://www.back-links.org/Blogging.php I am also in the middle of creating a new series of blogging articles you can read the first three here http://www.back-links.org/11-things-to-consider-before-you-start-blogging.php
What is the aim of the site? If you want to spread the news on current money crisis and make money off of it then you need to monetize your site with affiliate products since you are new. You can grab rss feeds from Yahoo for updated content but when visitors follow the link they will leave your site. You can apply some adsense and many more.
To apply for adsense, go to adsense.com and apply for it. It is easy, just follow the instructions and you will be fine. If you get approval, please read the terms of service very well. Do not click your own ads or send friends to your site. You will be banned if you do.
Honestly, like someone said, the site just looks kind of dull, design-wise. I mean if you're writing about the financial crisis, then bright neon colors probably wouldn't be appropriate either. But as it is, it just looks kind of drab. You can Google "free wordpress themes" and get tons of great looking themes that you can choose from and download. I'd say go with one that's a little livelier while still being appropriate to the topic. As for promotion, an easy thing to do is to go to feedburner.com and create an account (for free). When you're setting up your account, under the "publicize" section check off the pinging services, so that each time you make a post, the pinging services will pick it up and other people can find it. Also, add an rss feed widget to your blog (this is explained on the site) so that visitors to your site can sign up for your feed and they'll be notified by e-mail when you post.
