Why do you think so? It's a good method to avoid 299$ waste if yahoo catalog don't add your site after 299$ payment

    It's also illegal.

It's clearly stated in the terms that you are NOT guaranteed a listing. If your bank looks into it, I wouldn't be surpised if they close your account.

there is an appeal process if you are not accepted

provided your site is as per their guideliness then you should have nothing to worry about

remember this is annual fee - yahoo wants your money every year

I think the bank won't look at the yahoo terms, in any case you can say to the bank your credit card was stolen and etc.

Your suggestions are patently dishonest. It's not like Y! is charging the fee without your knowledge. If you don't like the price, then don't use the service.

A chargeback is no light matter. When you chargeback, you are in essence accusing the merchant of being a ripoff artist.

Personally I paid it and I think it was a blatant waste of money.

Maybe I will be proved wrong in the future - I hope!

The guy probably gives to charity and then makes a chargeback, too

I can think of a lot better ways to spend $299 than on a link that may not ever get accepted. I tend to be a stickler for getting something for my money.

Nah if I submitted my site, paid the fee, and it was rejected, I'd get the money back even if I had to issue a charge-back.

Fuck that...that's like stealing $299 from me. It would be so easy for a company that large to charge and reject every listing but get to keep the money.

I think the $299 is much better spent on good content/other links. With $299 you can get up to 29900 words written in the buy sell trade parts of this forum. That much content is going to score you a lot more traffic than yahoo directory or Yahoo Search for that matter.

I think there's better ways to spend $299 too.

I paid for inclusion for a couple of sites a few years back and it never gained me traffic that I could notice. The next year, I didn't pay as I no longer wanted to be included - never noticed any loss of traffic either!

I think Yahoo and charity organizations are quite different, isn't it?

Any other company would refund your money if your site wasn't accepted. I wouldn't consider anyone a scammer for issuing a charge back.
