Just Broke the $200 A Month Mark With Amazon Associates

I don't mean to toot my own horn but I'm ecstatic that I just broke the $200-a-month mark in Amazon Associates! As of yesterday, I'm up to $217 for the month, and with items yet-to-be shipped, I should be above $250 for August. Add in Adsense and Commission Junction earnings, and it's my first $300 month in my online business.

    Woo hoo!

If I've learned anything, it's to forget plugins and Astore templates and SEO tricks - the key to making money with Amazon Associates is to focus on creating useful, original content that is directly related to the products you are promoting.

    The dollars will follow.

Great man! I've reached 100$+ a month in a few months and it is always increasing.

Yea, being unique is what matters in business. You've got 1000 people doing the same thing, why'd they buy at you.

Good luck, hope you post "Just Broke 2000$ a month" soon :p

You are definitely on the right track, content is king and will make you alot more sales than any out of the box store that looks like thousands of others. There is loads of competition and only those sticking out of the crowd will see decent conversions and not just clicks.

I have 5 blogs with a mix of newsy-type stuff and evergreen content (product X review, product X vs. product Y, how to choose which product you need). The newsy stuff builds keyword density and sends traffic to my anchor articles which make most of the money.

One blog makes 80% of the money, though I'm actively overhauling/building three others.

I'm also monetizing with Commission Junction, another online retailer, and Adsense.

    Quick update:

I hit $258.88 in August which was above 48% above July, my previous best month ever. I also got multiple orders in August that should ship in September, giving me a nice head start.

Expenses were ~$6 for hosting, $25 on a new domain (not monetized yet), and ~$35 on a book that's already earned me back about $13.

I don't use any aStores or plug-ins or widgets. Everything comes from original content (product reviews, product comparisons, news updates) with boring old links to Amazon.

Negatives - I was kind of lazy due to personal obligations and didn't produce much meaningful new content.

Key Conclusions: As always, my money came from my key long-term oriented anchor posts - 1,000+ word product reviews and in-depth product comparisons. That's another good reason to focus on evergreen (stuff that doesn't go stale) content that will remain relevant for months or years - search engines love that stuff, and they can make you money even when you're not actively updating your blog/site.

Luck has nothing to do with it. It's all about plugging away at creating new, original content for a targeted audience.
