Hi, I just bought a .us domain for about a month. And recently Nexus send us an email to investigate requirement to own .us domain. Due to some incorrect Whois information. My friend accidentally added his address in Canada to the whois (he did not know). We work together so i can say i own the domain too. I submitted a copy of my US citizen ship and US driver license. And now they require us to have the previous owner to submit documents to prove he met the requirements too. But i cant contract the previous owner. What to do now? Can they take away my domain? I am us citizen and live in US. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks
I'm not an expert but I would assume at the very worst they take the domain away and then you renew it with only your information. Most of the time these things are simply a miscommunication. By the "previous owner" I'm assuming you mean your friend who registered it with the canadian address? Simply tell them that you live in the USA and are a citizen (which you have done) but you made a mistake. Or are they more difficult than that?
I have already told them that it was a mistake, my buddy added his address instead of mine. But they still request the last owner to prove that he meet the requirements. But if they take away domain someone my grab it first ( domain pretty famous and i am sure many wants it) By the ways, is there anyway a people from another country other than US can own .us domain? If so under what condition, it would be nice if you can provide an example. Thanks
