Been toying with the idea of buying this domain name for a few weeks, took the plunge earlier, thought what the hell, bought it on a whim. Got a few ideas for it, but never developed or considered running a blog site before, so looking for some input from you guys here. Just thought it rolled off the tongue so well, and 'gob' too in the UK is another word for mouth, as in the cockney (London) accent, 'Shut yer gob mate'. Gobblin' is also food related, as in, 'Cor blimey gov, he's gobblin that down fast!' Too, it's short and sweet and I think, highly brandable. Any ideas please on how it could be developed into a blog site? How do you think it could and/or might be used? Your suggestions would be most welcome. And indeed monetary offers for the name as everything is for sale, if the price is right. BLOGOBLIN.COM - All I need now is a decent logo to go with it.
This is true I guess - so many ideas, hmmmmmm cheers guys, appreciate the input. Have spoken with my web developer now about this name, we're going to get another website completed first, then turn our attention to this domain name, formulate a plan of action. Idea thrown around at the moment is to create a blog with many more serious subject categories upon it, plus sub headings etc e.g. finance, money, banking, stocks & shares, medical, politics, religion, sports etc etc. We would like to garner as much high quality content as possible allowing our visitors to make their own posts, with links to their own websites, of course too, ability for others to post reply comments to said 'articles' to enable free flowing communication between our blog members. Having never done a blog before, either of us, we are complete rookies in this area of the internet so our learning curve will be steep but enjoyable nonetheless. If any of you could suggest upon which platform we should / ought to design this idea, it would be very much appreciated if you could submit your knowhow, tips, scripts to use, programs / software to run etc - what are the latest trend developments etc to developing, running a highly successful blog web site? We'd like to learn as much as possible - fast, without neglecting quality, ease of navigation and damn good design for our visitors, end users. Any assistance, design tricks, tips, all appreciated. Many thanks. Mark Magawr
Hope that didn't read like complete double dutch, I'm sure I could have written that simpler - apologies. Late, I need sleep.
Than I would consider thinking about another topic than blog reviews. Your visitors would see right thru you. I would use it for one of the topics that you just mentioned for example you’re the sports goblin. One very good tip is don’t publish all those topics on one blog! Especially when you are thinking of monetizing your blog. You can rank higher and get better authority if you stay with one or two topics. All your visitors are coming for a specific topic; this is not the case when you have topics like politics, religion and sports. I mean: all your religious visitors are “worthless†if you find advertisers for sports. BTW. Wordpress is the only option! And check out the authority websites like probogger. First off, use WordPress. It's the best blogging platform ever invented and its free to use. Wordpress.org is chock full of everything you'll need. There's also plenty of themes already available, so your developer won't necessarily learn how to theme WordPress at all. You might also want to hire people to post sometimes to bring some diversity to your blog as well as different readers. Don't place a bajillion ads on it. Hardly anyone will read it. So, you won't make money anyways.
Again, many thanks to both of you. Already aware that fewer ads are better than too many, too, too many subjects, ok I can fully understand the reasoning behind that. Quite looking forward to developing this one now. Just need to get BoatsBroker.co.uk finished, video ad marine classifieds site and then we can move onto this project, research the potential market fully. All good fun. Any other tips highly appreciated. All the best to you all.
