I just bought a yahoo directory listing for Hookah Lounge.... Even thought the site is ranked on first page of Google for "hookah" and many other terms, it wasnt even listed on Yahoo. I could have just submitted it for inclusion in yahoo search engine (which i had done before). But i went ahead and bought the directory listing. ---> out of $300.
Were you accepted? Let's know if it is worthy for your site. Yahoo directory listing should help you a lot, but make sure your site is ready when they come to see what you offer.
the site is as ready as it gets (IMO). I don't see any reason why it should get rejected, but I have not received any decisions yet.... I'm hoping the Y! listing added to the website's current strength make it become part of top 3 in its industry.
Is that a picture of Barbara Eden from "I Dream of Genie" you're using in your header to promote a website and products used for smoking and getting high? If you DO get rejected, that might be a reason why if she's not affiliated with your site and you're not authorized to use her image in your promotion.
Its actually a hand sketch of the image by my designer so it the one on the left hand side of the header. I'm not using anyone's image
Have you submitted any website to Yahoo before? Or Anyone? For sure its going to help you the serp because it's going to give more "authority"
As a tip, i would suggest you to follow them on twitter(if you are using it), and ask any questions related to your submission - http://twitter.com/yahoo_directory
Nice find Chetan, never knew that yahoo guys were also on twitter. also the review about yahoo directory listing will be interesting.
Sweet! Can you have sketches made for me then? I would like the Fansastic 4 holding Dell XPS laptops to put in the header of one of the sites I own www.notebookforums.com I'll pay for them but expect you to guarantee there will be no legal issues! ROFL, BTW, I would get hammered by both Dell and whoever owns the rights to the Fantastic 4 characters. They don't want it to look like they represent and endorse a site or product they haven't agreed to and have a contract with making sure the website stays within their guidelines. Your "image" even if made by you and/or for you, is a clear representation of of the character "Genie" from "I Dream of Genie". Someone out there owns the rights to this character and if your site ever grows and gets on their radar, you may be pumping out some cash for a lawyer to say hi to a judge with. Just an FYI man, I've been there and had the hammer come down for some high profile/traffic sites I own for very stupid reasons. You can be in denial and still be safely under the radar till your website grows and someone has had enough
i submited my site to yahoo directory last monday and got approved last night . im keeping my eye open for serps increase and traffic from there
I have never submitted one. So this is my first try. But I wouldn't submit a site until I am 100% done with improving on-site stuff I can introduce you to my designer that does it. He charges $200 for each sketch and of course I can't guarantee any legal matters. It has been my understanding that sketches (of celebrities, etc) by hand is not copyrighted. It actually might be copyrighted for the sketcher.
actually more than traffic from Yahoo Directory, I'm hoping this listing will improve my yahoo search engine ranking as i currently get no traffic from it.
A Y! Directory listing is one of the best investments you can make. You recieve multiple backlinks as an added benefit. Congratulations.
