Awesome 1st house then? Nothing quite like owning a house, it's the best, especially if you are coming out of an apartment with rude neighbors get some water on that lawn and then you'll be needing a riding mower
Looks good. Hope you enjoy your new abode and your new mortgage to go with it It takes a while to pay it off...Trust me on this one....LOL Col
Way to go, d16man! That is a gorgeous house. Where I live in Oregon, with that square footage and yard size, it would probably run around 450 to 500 thousand. You got an amazing deal.
isn't that nuts! I had no idea it was that expensive up there, whereas CA, I think everyone knows about that state! TX is really reasonable...you just have to endure a 8 month summer! and the electric bill that goes along with it 2632sq. ft., a one story 5/3/2 and we paid $159K
thanks all....and the pic is about 2 months old...the yard is much greener now...as far as price, I have already mentioned that...my internet stuff does ok I guess. also, If I were to buy this house in columbia, SC instead of the upstate, it would be a 300k house...gotta love it when you can find a good area that is cheap to work and live in. My wife will be able to find a job at a local hospital (shes an RN), so she is excited as well.
Glad to hear about the yard greening up. That's the first thing I've always done in buying a home — get the lawn in tip-top shape. The conventional wisdom is that a good lawn adds 6% to your resale value.
the house appraised today for 208, which is roughly 13k more than I paid for it...I also plan on planting a few trees (maybe some fast growing ones like dogwoods or greybeards), which should help out the curb appeal.
Good plan. Don't let the nursery talk you into buying hybrid poplars. They grow very fast, but the root system is extremely invasive.
well, we are going to be on city water, but not on city sewer...so there is a septic tank, and therefore I have to be careful about what I plant in the sewage field...I figure dogwoods don't get that big, but they get big enough...I might plant an oak or something in the front yard though.
Please post some pics of your new house.. I hope i can buy my own house next year also.. 14k$ for a house is pretty cheap right..?
Hello d16man, Congrats on the new house, it looks fantastic. Whens the house warming party? Good luck
we close on June 15...lets see, my wife works the following monday and tuesday, so either of those days! This house ought to be big enough for me to have my laptop, my 21" widescreen and my 32" widescreen so that I can have DP up all the time no matter what I am doing!
