I bought www.computer-help-online.com about a week ago and I'm starting to put some content up, and for some reason I just felt like checking to see if it was indexed. So it looks like on Google there are 11 indexed pages from whoever had this domain before me. Once I get a sitemap up, will those disappear and show the correct information?
It's probably cached results of what the website used to be, it should update when googlebot crawls your website.
Hard to say, google is very messed up right now. The cache's from those pages is over a year old. Where has google been all this time? If google was working properly, those pages would have been updated/removed a long time ago. // heh - google seems to think it's the wayback machine lately
I had the same problem with my new site. It took google over a week to index new content after i submited sitemap.
I would quickly replace those indexed pages with your own, or redirect them to your own pages. This way you just might capture any PageRank that those old pages may have. It might also mean your new site will get crawled and indexed sooner than submitting it would. If you upload a sitemap, then include the old pages until you don't need them anymore. Cryo.
A few days ago I made a sitemap, and then Google dropped those old pages, but didn't index any of mine. I just checked again, and now the old pages are back again, and still none of my new pages.
