Just Another Sandbox Conspiracy Theory

    I don’t think Google’s sandbox effect has to do with the keyword you choose. The battle is between commercial vs informational themes. Google’s worth over 100 billion dollars and commercial sites drive their business through revenues from Adwords; however in the organic searches, I feel that Google gives more edge to informational sites. I’ve been doing SEO for over 4 years, and one thing that I’ve noticed is that sites that try to sell you something tend to be short and to-the-point; meaning they tend to not have a lot of content as informational sites. We all know that content is king. It’s what Google has been telling us all along. Well around 2004-2005 we were slapped with the sandbox effect. Not the competitive keyword filter for new sites as many may think, but the commercial site trigger that bottlenecks rankings. Google’s sandbox filter separates commercial from informational; however, even if you have a purely commercial site; there are ways to beat this filter if you have a new site that has not been SEOed or indexed. Below I’ve listed suggestions that can help you avoid getting into the sandbox in the first place by tricking Google to think your site is informational.

    5 Golden Rules that will keep your new site out of the sandbox.

    1. Content is king. Try to have at least 500-1000 words on the majority of the pages of your web site. Having relevant original articles on your web site works wonders.
    2. Each page of your site should have a unique title, keywords, and site description. Always think of site description as the summary of your page’s content.
    3. When acquiring links, do not get more than 50 links per month. You should have a mixture of reciprocal and one-way as well as a variation of pr. Remember you want to look as natural as possible. Getting a bunch of pr 5 links isn’t natural.
    4. Have multiple anchor texts for a keyword. I tend to put a different adjective in my keyword’s anchor text.
    5. Do not buy site-wide links.


    If you don’t agree with my conspiracy theory, that is ok. These are guidelines that have worked for me personally. None of my new sites get into the sandbox.

    I think your idea works because you have 500-1000 words on a page. That means more keywords you could possibly rank for.

    I'm in with you - Sometimes its a little hard to tell. But i have had sites hit top 10 Google spots in 7 days from launch - crazy. I find that updating the main page and some internal pages at least daily seems to help more pages go quickly in the database. Yeah sitewide links are against G* TOS - I was crushed with a few sites banned that I was providing site wide links on :(
