Brilliant idea to prevent dispute claims, but not so brilliant to prvent "unauthorized transaction" claims I suppose. Because unauthorized transaction claim can be opened at any time, even if there was a closed dispute before.

The sad thing is that it's not only the buyer who can initiate an unauthorized transaction, but PayPal as well. They do so as they say to improve security, but actually by diong so they rip off buyers and sellers. It happens as follows: PayPal limits access to buyer's acocunt and places his transaction on hold, then if the buyer cannot restore the access to his account (paypal often ask stupid quiestions with no answers), funds are automaticaly reverseted (deducted from sellers account and returned to the buyer). Thats how it happens. I encountered such situations dozens of times in my 4 year experience with PayPal. 90% of those occasions I was absolutely sure that buyer was honest and his funds were absolutely legal.

Call godaddy and say that you want to report credit card fraud. Explain, that you sold your domain name and transferred it to godaddy, but the person who bought it from you paid you with fraudulent funds. Ask godaddy to block buyer's access to this domain name and help in the investigation. It's also worth calling the support of the website trough which you sold your domain.

That really sucks. $2500 is a lot of money. I can't even earn that in a month.

    Any updates?

NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER!!!! Sell anything for this kind of price using paypal. If someone place a chargeback, you have lost the case before it started, as long as its electronic delivery.

To be safe with paypal, you need to only sell stuff that has physical form, and shap. For tangible items, you will never have paypal on your side as they do not support such sales.

If you want to be 100% sure with a payment processor that does not accept chargeback's use ONLY www.e-gold.com .

If you need any help with this, let me know.

So sorry for your loss. This has happens to many people.

Here is a suggestion as I have lost thousands of dollars and paypal accounts until a valuable secret was revealed to me.

    1. Sell the website using paypal tangibles
    2. Create a Cd of all the files and instructions
    3. Ship the item using a tracking number and when shipping make sure they have to sign for the item.

Now this protects the buyer but not the seller so much so yes use an escrow account.

Why would you leave money in your paypal account especially after a claim like this was made against you?

I tried, and can't seem to find any way to cancel / caus a dispute.

Anyways, I contacted godaddy multiple times, they told me there's nothing that can be done, pretty much.
You learn from your mistakes, at least its a lesson learned.

Gloria, thanks for the advice, sounds like the smartest way to deal with such a situation.
The fact was I needed some quick cash and couldn't be bothered.. My fault.
Anyways, regardless of what happens , I'll only sell here from now on anyways, and only to those with a good itrader.

You can report this guy to the police. Paypal support can give you the IP from the other site and then ..... report in Police.

How you come to that idea to move $ 2,500 on Paypal?
I for myself would never move more than $ 500 ( and this is still a lot of money ) with them, better you would have used e-gold for this kind of business. I am very sorry for you that you losed that amount of money, the next time never, never, do it on Paypal again, as it is very easy to get scammed by them in any way.

    Take care ;)

Its a large amount, but I do move large amounts nearly daily. The thought that this might happen didn't cross my mind.
I know who he is, where he lives.. everything about him. The fact that someone would be as dumb as this to scam me never crossed my mind.

It is BS, and its not a joke.

There isn't? I'm in the US often enough.

Its funny, I've had a few people here from DP add me to MSN and ask me why I haven't DDOS'd him yet, if I want their help to DDOS him (which I politely declined) and if they should help hack him.

Thanks, but there's no reason to get overly upset about it.
The truth is I wasn't attached to the site.

Having said all that, I won't forget it.
This matter is far from over.

And unless anyone here can help me pursue him, in which case PLEASE feel free to get in touch with me, I'll just let this matter rest until I get back to the US this summer.
