Just added new Class C IPs. Now what?

    Hello,

Forgive me, but I am essentially brain dead on the topic of server jargon (among other things).

I've had a dedicated server on EV1 for a while now which I host about 100 of my sites. I just found out that we could have up to 8 IPs for free. Great! So I quickly requested all 8.

My server already has Plesk on it. This is the only way I know how to setup a domain, MySQL, etc.

As of this writing, we only have one name server - NS1.nameserver1.com. It is my understanding that to take advantage of the seperate Class C Ips for search engine optimization, I'll need to setup more nameservers. Is this correct? So I'll need NS1.nameserver2.com?

I don't need another installation of Plesk, do I? I seam to be able to login to Plesk just fine with any domain found on our server. I just wanted to be sure.

I apologize, but I know nothing. I may be better off paying someone (and I haven't ruled that out) but I wanted to see where I stand. This server stuff is not my area of expertise (THAT'S FOR SURE!). So if I can be walked through this stuff with a few online guides, then great. I'll figure it out. If I need a degree in IT to do this, then I'll need to pay someone.

    Brandon

    Hi Brandon,
I am totally unable to help you on that, as I have very little knowledge about dedicated servers.
But I can assure you that's it is much easier to generate traffic with your websites if they are on different class C Ip addresses.
My websites are on 2 dedicated servers but also on around 50 shared hostings here and there. If you know how to set up your 8 ip addresses, I would be very interested in locating 8 of my websites on them. In exchange of course of your using 8 of my ip addresses (or 10 if you wish). What I need is a very limited space (a few Mo), no php / sql, etc. (my pages are static) and very little bandwith (almost no images and small traffic).
    good luck for your problem
    david
