I still get inandated with link requests and still 90% of the standard replies never even get answered, even if answerd the incluson message only elicts replies in about 50% of cases. But when persuing links myself or for a client I always send a personal thank you note when an incluson is confirmed and voila in most cases I get a reply. It seems that most webmasters request links and don't even acknowledge an incluson message as a lot of replies show genuine surprise by the editor or webmaster that I've taken the time to send a quick but personal Thank You. The bonus - I now have a range of personal e-mail addresse of editors and a quick but again personal note highlighting that I've send another high quality site speeds up inclusion like there is no tomorrow. Also I can pre ask in some cases what the best cat would be and again pasting the history in the e-mail some actually do the complete listing for me. Like in real live a short courtesy note can open doors very wide indeed. M
Good manners, civility and showing respect for the third party always will reap rewards for the business man / woman. The moral is - always make friends and enemies will never trouble you. Mick
Very good advice - it is easy to forget that there is actually a real person on the other end of that email address Geir
Voila!!! How did you manage to dig out this thread, it is more than 6 years old and that kind of linking is no more that effective.
Ironic that I found this post after sending 10-12 thank you's to people who submitted to my directory. I will remember to respond to other admins when they accept my sites though... what goes around comes around. Cheers BTW... the similar threads posts are ancient!!! 3 of the 4 are 2004
