Hi, i always see people submitting their link to reciprocal URL directories but when i visit their site there are just 5-6 links pointing out to other directories (which i assume they are the reciprocals). So my question is : is there a trick in putting the reciprocal somewhere in your homepage so you don't have to list 1000 reciprocals that you submit to
No real trick to it - some sites will have a separate page set up for this. Problem with that is that most will want a link from your main page in return. You may want to read this article I wrote on reciprocal linking.
Good article , although i disapprove with some parts of it. Anyway it didn't answer my question. Having a second page where you post the reciprocals would be a total waste of traffic imo. So there has to be something else. Like someone said in comments on your article about having 1000 reciprocals; where do you keep them ?
The answer was actually there. It was not to do recip linking. Anyway if your intent on it lets look at a couple real estate sites which came up in a quick search. home2home dot net - then scroll down it will take a while - the lower 2/3 of the main page is reciprocal link spam. Most will require the recip links on your index page so that is where they go. florida-lifestyle dot com - now this is interesting. Same lady as above with a different site and the same recip linking on the lower 2/3 of the index page. Must not have been enough room on the first site for all the reciprocal link spam. team-spokane dot com - now here is an interesting tact. Do an impersonation of a google tool bar towards the bottom of the site and list all the recip links by page rank. Man oh man. genesmith9 dot com - took the same tactic as above. Those were four of the first five I found in my search. The fifth one had some kind of virus that kicked my anti virus software in so I an not going to list that one. It was actually the worst. So the popular choice seems to be the bottom of the index page. You can also do the footer as many sites do but not many links fit in there. You could list them in your side bar as resources but again you won't have the space you need to really pack them in like these examples. Good luck with it.
Not too ethical in my opinion - like paying for your groceries and stopping payment on the check... Also most directories have scripts to detect this and deactivate your link.
