Just a Poll: How much are you willing to pay for SEO service?

I'm not a SEO expert but have been reading about ways to increase search ranking. I done a search on the SEO services out there and there is a wide difference in the charging fees from a few hundred dollars to thousands. Out of curiosity, I'm wondering how much is one willing to pay for the SEO service?

For me it would depend on the competition of the niche you want to optimize for.

Few hundred dollars should be okay for something not to competitive, but the more competition, the more $$$$ :D

Prices run the spectrum from affordable to outrageous. Fact is though, anyone of reasonable intelligence and fortitude can optimize their site themselves for zero money.

It depends who's buying, stop calling it advice, call it consultancy, target medium-large business and you can charge $300+ per hour

It depends on how serious one is about their business. If anyone thinks that they pay someone say $500 to rank them under a keyword like gift baskets is crazy. But as stated above the harder the comp the more you are going pay. Any seo services should start no smaller than $1,500 and go from there. But it also depends on what the company is going to do for you.

Some companies just want to add keywords and meta tags and submit to a few directories and then try and charge a arm and leg for it. A real seo is going to do all things needed in order to make sure that you rank well for your target phrase. With that said, I think people should respect some of the prices that a company may charge, some of them really do know what they are doing.

hmm.... what I'm curious is... there are companies who charged a 5 figure sum for their SEO service. Would that sum of money be put into better use on direct advertising, direct marketing rather than fighting ways to climb that search engine ranking?

SEO now covers a wide range of techniques. Times are changing and just tinkering with the HTML is only 50% of the phrase SEO. Then there is SEM which brings a new dimension all together.

Link building is now becoming an absolute must for any website that seriously wants to be recognised in Google and getting into DMOZ is taking longer than ever before!

Anyway back to the question of how much should you pay for SEO services?

The answer is simple: It all depends on how serious you are about getting your site into the top 10 for your chosen keywords. Yes you can get niche keywords up there very quickly but whats the point of being number one for a keyword that only 1-2 people search on a day!

To get a top keyword or keyword phrase into the top 10 on google it would take you around 6-8 months working 8 hour days, 6 days a week.

I know a company who can do it and get these results....Mine! (he he got that plug in)

I'd say: "Find a more reasonably priced firm or do it yourself". You'd have to get some pretty good rankings to get your investment back otherwise. ;-)

Bearing in mind I'm completely new to this game I'd say 75$ is my max. That's only if the words I were looking for were impossible for me to get alone. I don't think I'll be using any pro services tho.

I'm aiming more for midlevel words that aren't big competition but still get decent hits. Now a service that found those for me I would pay good money for. Something where I could plug in whether I wanted single words or phrases with 2,3,4, etc words. Tell it what range of searches per day I wanted, and tell me how what range advertisers were paying for the words. If anyone knows of such a place hook me up with a PM.

True, but then a lot of people don't have the time. For a company to get an employee who's time is worth $50-$100 per hour learning SEO which would take weeks. It's more cost effective to get an SEO in.

Try and find someone that will work on your SEO on a shared revenue deal - If they are as good as they say they are, and beleive in your product/service as much as you, they may be willing to invest their time and efforts into your project.

Before i take project i will first see what are sites that presently in top 10, if they are big sites with lot of backlinks and huge traffic then we have to charge more for clients, keywords that get huge profits or traffic are diff as already many big sites will be there other thing is topic, if we have lot of shopping sites it will be easy for use to get revelant site up, so we may charge less for them, so just try and get correct person. cost depends may be 100$ to10000$ / mo
