I'm kind of confused with this affiliate marketing-forum stuff....after reading rules. Would somebody help me as to why I may be such a misguided soul. If I went to a forum about Sex, I'd expect everything sexual under the sun on that forum. If I go to a forum filled with advertisers and marketers, why does advertising and marketing seemingly get frowned upon ? How is my mindset wrong ? If a bunch of beer drinkers got together....would their leader scream at them all and say...."no beer drinking"..... Someone help me understand.
I seriously am confused by it. If advertisers meet shouldn't you expect advertising in every way imaginable ?
Dude get over it. This is a marketing forum so no doubt there are going to be some epic nerds here who are also part time keyboard warriors. It's inevitable. Also I'd suggest you stay away from the Politics and Religion forum since that's where most if not all the atheists go to vent their frustration because they didn't get enough attention when they were younger and their mothers stopped breast feeding them early.
Are you saying they're people online who are like real life Home Owners Association people....they just like the feeling of telling people what to do ?
/put gun away Jasonb *Puts gun away* /reads post /pull gun out again Jasonb Pulls gun out again....* Its about communicating regarding marketing techniques, sharing your marketing knowledge with other internet marketers not marketing your products to people who dont care. If DP allowed people to spam there affiliate links left right and center, this thread would have allready been filled with at least 3,000 posts about either getting a bigger (3rd leg) or... getting some little pills with a chicken on them to make you perform better in that sport where you put the ball in the hoop, whats it called again, thats it!.... 'basketball obviously'
I'm not trying to be argumentative...I guess I'm weird....advertising doesn't bother me...maybe it does others. Like I said....an advertising forum.....in my mind....you'd expect to be bombarded with advertisements.....like you expect to see naked women at a strip joint. Like I said...not trying to be argumentative. As far as people wanting to not be advertised to here but learn....I think I'd have to disagree with that. Maybe this whole forum thing isn't for me, Maybe I should just go to a strip joint and find me a woman wearing a turtleneck.
Awesome!! ''Maybe I should just go to a strip joint and find me a woman wearing a turtleneck.'' Thats an awesome quote dude if you want to advertise your product or website i would suggest looking into maybe social media marketing e.g using twitter and facebook to promote your stuff and also search engine optimisation, gaming the search results will help you
Actually, I didn't really plan on advertising here. I just wanted to learn, which is what your point was. I just made this post after reading the rules and regulations. The rules and regulations in my mind just didn't seem to go hand in hand with a forum for advertisers. Then again. I have virtually no experience with forums, it's all new to me. I have known people in the past who spoke about heavy handed overseers on forums but I didn't go there to understand what they were talkin about. Moderators, that's what they are. Maybe forums just feel the need for a strict oversight of what takes place there....who knows. I for one would not be bothered if 3,000 people responded to this post trying to sell me everything from male enhancement pills to graphic design services. I guess others wouldn't like it, call me crazy, advertising just does not bother me.
because these forums would be spammed with people just putting up their advertisements, this is a forum to discuss ideas, innovations, insider info as to how to market to the masses. If this was just pure advertisement, would you really want to come here and look at 2 thousand adds of viagra?
I agree with sir jointaldc. Forums are not for advertisements. Forums are for sharing ideas and learning new things comes along with it.
I have to admit I don't mind advertising either, but on the other hand, a forum full of nothing but ads would be incredibly annoying. Most of us simply don't have time to wade through pages of junk in order to find the gems the knowledgeable members of this forum drop for the benefit of all. It's hard to find a fine balance, though. In reality, there are probably tons of members who haven't settled on something that suits them well. But if you don't keep a tight lid on things in a forum, you wind up with spam from not only silly people trying to promote things that are deadly boring, but from cheap hired labor to do the spamming for them. Personally, I don't envy the moderators the challenge of a forum such as this! I don't know if you'd call it tight rope or slack lining, but either way good balance is needed. Seems to me like a pretty good job is being done. You can see various products and services being offered if you're looking for them... but you're not left with the feeling this is just one big classified page on the web.
