Hi, Well, I am a UK resident but I would be distributing my products from servers located in the US, primarily in US dollars. I would be doing business as a UK Individual rather than a registered company. My question is: Is it better to have a UK or US trademark. Or are they ported elsewhere? I am new at all this but the Direct Dot Gov sites don't really explain it that well. Thanks, Rory
I know nothing about UK trademarks. However, US Trademarks are allowed to file for international protection under the Madrid Protocol which allows your mark to be covered in signatory countries. For more information, see: http://www.uspto.gov/web/trademarks/madrid/madridfaqs.htm Deena ___________________________________________________________ Any opinions are offered without knowledge of the specific law of your jurisdiction and with only the limited information provided in your post. Okay, thanks. It seems that to register a trademark under the Madrid thing in the UK and the US would be £476.00 not including the money to buy the UK one in the first place. Seems rather steep :S
