FidelGonzales - Yes, I prefer it to being a reporter but some would not. I guess it all depends on the type of writing that you like to do!
WOW it's great income sources... Can I use your service to resell the articles? If so, I need your price lists. Hope to get cheapest.
bon300187 - There are some topics that I enjoy more than others, for sure. And of course, I try to stick with those that I am most comfortable with.
Yeah I understand what you mean, from a writers point of view it's much more profitable to write about stuff you know. You don't have to put as much time in researching the topic to ensure that you are being truthful. I just need to expand my client base which can give me a constant flow of work.
This is so true! I haven't been writing for the web nearly as long as Chris or Jen or Webgal, but let me say that I went from the ridiculous .01/word market to writing for the Discovery Channel in a very decent time frame. I adjust my rate for individual clients depending on niche, specifics, and relationship. If someone I've worked with previously many times needs something urgently, or they are in a pinch, we have that relationship in place that affords me to work with them on price. Not saying I charge new clients more, but that with the history and trust there, I can do that confidently without worry that they 1.) won't pay 2.) always expect such a deal, etc... Just trust that you know what you need to charge, and be flexible when needed if it is beneficial for you in the long run. Anyone who is determined and writes well CAN do this. Oh, and Chris is kind to offer his help at the price he does. He has knowledge that is extremely helpful, and is always kind. He sincerely tries to help any writer who comes to him - within reason of course, he can't just sit for hours with everyone ya know? Chins up people and write, network, write, market, write, smile!
Lets assume you make that much money every month. My question is this: since you are making the money on the internet, is it taxable?
