The best idea would have been to use the forum's search facility before asking this extremely hard-to-come-by question, which would've helped you realize (a) it's stupid to chase toolbar PR in the first place and (b) it's stupid to chase toolbar PR in the first place.

make some quality backlinks, good contents for your site, you may have a look on this - how can I create a google-friendly site ?

dont jump for loads of backlinks within a very short time. go slow. good luck.

within a 3 month period my new site when from PR0 to PR5. the only way to get backlinks to my site at the begining when it was a PR0 is to buy text links. Once you get a High-ish pr then its much easier to trade links with other high pr sites

Write and submit articles to get links. You can get some strong one way links to your site. I got some one way links from pages that have a PR of 8.

Don't even worry about PR. It will come naturally. Just build quality links. I get daily traffic from the articles also.

the big search engines can find 2 way links that are only ment to make your PR higher. The point of a link is to give more useful and relevant information to the viewer. If you just trade links with some random site, search engine will see it as a bad thing and ban your site.

You don't see W3schools on this site trading links and asking how to get there PR higher... they created a great site that's useful to users and people link to it because it's good! So just create a good site and people will link to it!

You have to write highly authoratative articles to get PR 8 sites linking to you. Most sites that link to you from article submission are PR0, occassionally, they will be PR 2 or 3 maybe.

    1. Realize that PR doesn't help you at all.
    2. Pick your niche keywords to target.
    3. Build links with your niche keywords as the keyword text.
    4. Find other ways to get traffic
    5. Never ever ever worry about PR.

Worry about traffic, links, and adding content to your site. PR will NOT make you money and will NOT get you traffic. It can be faked and only will ever make you money if you are selling links.

I really don't understand how people can say that getting PR doesn't help.

Pagerank works best for sites with alot of content. The higher your pagerank the deeper your site is indexed. Instead of just getting traffic on your main page you get traffic to your sub pages.

Yeah well maybe Blackbeard went a tiny bit too far with his "PR is absolutely useless statement" :D

You shouldn't worry about your toolbar PR, though, really. Focus on backlinks (to your inner pages, if you need it), and on traffic. PR will come with time as a nice side-effect of proper SEO :D
