Hi all! I'm trying to define the best solution for my live media stream needs of 2 frames per second (2 fps would be perfect motion quality/bandwidth usage balance)... I do not need any audio streams. I'm not sure if I should go for a stream of JPG image files or a live MPEG stream, which on my webcam is available with a minimum of 10 frames per second... First of all, the JPG stream seems a lot smaller to me, which is good because I don't want to have too much of a data load on the server (costs more money obviously), however it seems difficult to implement this technique in a website (refreshing a JPG image on a website every 500 milliseconds - it's just a lot to ask from both the webcam and the server serving the images to have an image uploaded every 0.5 seconds).. So the MPEG stream seems to be a better solution, however, it has a much bigger stream (in kB's) - at least, that's what I'm guessing.. Right? What's your opinion about this? Have you got any advice for me??? I don't necessarily need a 10 frames per second stream, 2 would be enough.. But it has to be streaming - so no flickering whites between image loads.. Is this even possible??? Thnx a lot in advance to all of you guys!!!! Kind regards, Roel
Sure it's possible.. you should be able to push out 10 fps.. it depends on a number of things, how many clients are connecting at one time etc. If you have anything set up already pm me and I may be able to give a couple of examples. I'm not selling anything, but I can show you some demos and share some info I've learned. I have a heavy workload and a problem I had was that it really needs two people to test it.. and since it was only for my own interest then other people just lost their patience while I tried different stuff pm me what you have in mind.
