    Hi All,

I would like to share my journey to have a web-site earning atleast USD $200 a month in do-it-yourself style.

After completing design, programing & deployment of my website, I signed up for google webmaster tool, ad-sense, analytics. Kept an eye over SERPs. Did link building on forums & blogs. Posted articles over EZine.

Learned that, there is a lag in applying position to a website in google-search-engine. My site appeared on google on 2nd day after launch, but the rules for positioning applied 2-3 days later. I have also noticed that, my site wiped out of search results for few (1-2) hours from search results, during that time, i noticed that site-links of my competitor also vanished, but as soon as google repositioned everything, the search result come to normal.

    Lesson Learned:
    1) Always test your website before launch. In order to have genuine stats for website, I did not tested it really well after launch. Google found few (File Not Found) bugs and dropped my website lower in search results. Thanks its not completely dropped out.
    2) Do more research on dofollow forums/blog and have articles in hand (atleast if not submitted to articles website) before deployment, so that you can start as a blast.
    3) Have some way of live stats of your visitors, as Analytics and AdSense do not provide realtime-stats.
    4) Be near to on-site SEO master, it worth having on-site SEO completed before you deploy your website. Do read google's guidline for webmasters.
    5) Trust in hard-working, ignore get-richer-in-a-day schemes, they have no worth.

    Reward:
Due to posting in a well known forum, i got 9 unique visitors, from those visits I earned $0.27 (adSense). Total 118 unique visits till to date.

Short Term Goal:Put efforts to rank website higher in search results.

Long Term Goal: Earn atleast USD $200 from Ad-Sense and USD $400 from affiliate products.

If anybody got advise, do let post here.

P.S: I will try to keep update

Good job. Keep doing what you've been doing, and like 6 months later it could be 20x the amount you make a month

Thanks, I would not leave it in the middle no matter if it take 6 months :)

Fourm Postings: Today, I have just posted few messages over forums, note that those forums have nofollow links (in signature) so i m not expecting any pr from them, but when I get chance I post url of my website in the message (contest link or helping some member from content over my website), and those links are do follow (on some forums).

Link Exchange: I am very picky with link-exchange, because I read that google discourage the link-exchange companies. Therefore I am personally sending emails to the website owners who have PR>1 with link-exchange request, though the success rate is not that much, but its moving on.

Article based Marketing: I have had posted 5 articles on eZine last week, two of them are published, but there were only 5 clicks refered from eZine which didnt converted.

Google: My website appeared on 4th page for the major keyword but later in the evening it wiped out again. Google-bot is still gathering data from my website.

Site Indexing at Google: At the moment google is saying 213 pages indexed on first page, while displaying only 3 pages at the bottom, when I click 3rd page, it says 29 pages indexed  Seems like it takes atleast a week to position the website on the basis of data gathered by google-bot.

I hope that, stats will be good in coming week.

    Thats for now.

    thanks all :)

Seems like I will have to focus on my programing now, as clients are loosing their patience :)

Link Building: Just sending emails to couple of webmasters for link exchange but havent got any reply as of yet.

What I am doing here is, search for my main keyword in google, then pick up few websites from first page, going to their link-exchange page and sending them request for link exchange in addition to other websites listed on the same link page

Alexa: Seen alexa today, grabbing my web pages

EZine: Another one visitor came from Ezine, but he didnt clicked the any ad on the website

Google: Still confusing when I do site:www.mysite.com what it displaying as total # of pages is not correct, when I move to last page.

I started your way with ezines. I found one article today as being rejected due to grammar errors, although I do not find them. Strange... anyway. I wonder why to write articles if very few click on them?

I have had content writer for the quality articles, that is why 2 out of 5 articles published so far, and rest are in the queue.

As this is my first website ever, I am experimenting with different mode of sophisticated marketing, and realized that either I should post 5 articles per day and blast those articles with change to other article submission website, or completely stop posting these articles, and I am going to stop posting atleast for a month or so, due to my own time constraints.

FYI, my articles were indirectly related to my niche. It really depends over what is your niche and in which categories your articles are being published.

Over DP, some senior members recommend to post atleast 5 articles a day for a month over eZine and with slight change (otherwise eZine will raise copyright issue) to other article submission websites.

    Very slow day today effort-wise.

Google: Google is still playing its role to index and position my website. My website is on 4th page now for major keyword. The # of indexed page is still incorrect as if compared on first & last page, but there is a increase in total # of pages indexed so far.

Organic traffic came for very rare and useless keywords, seems like something need to be done for title.

eZine: Rest of the three articles approved and 3rd & 4th articles are published which brought 4 clicks so far.

Rewards: 4th ad-sense click brought $0.01 into the account, from a visitor refered via eZine.

Now, total revenue generated is $0.27.

its NOT ONLY about the clicks mate. VISIBILITY is what makes people submit articles to such directories.

however another good thing about article posting over eZine is that, the links in your article's resource are do-follow.

i m not sure abt webhosting niche, personally i would never prefer to try any aff other than cj.com or linkshare. you can find plenty of advertisers there.

Update: Yuhoo, yuppy! Made another $0.09 from a user refered via eZine. Man I feel like, it was not that much slow day ;)

yesterday another $0.06 came into AdSense account. My current efforts are to build quality backlinks.

Link Building: Individual Link Exchange request via email to website owner does not seems effective, that is why I am using social medium as much as I can. I saw the traffic comes to website but without any conversion.

SERPs: Seems like my website is gaining SERPs after I post content at websites like hubpages, Squido lens, google-profiles, yahoo answers, twitter, facebook etc. I am sure that the links at most of these websites are nofollow, but I think if we post something over Search Engine related websites like Yahoo Answers or Google profiles, they get noticed.

Due to the nature of keywords that google-bot sees over my website, I guess my website is appearing very good in local search, however those visits (from local searches) are still not converting and the keywords are not so competitive as well.

SEO: I realised at the 12th day of website launch that, title get more importance in SERP, therefore I put my main keyword in the title. Prior to this my website title was begining with my Website name.

Its all about your position in Google, and I guess I have to learn more with little more patience.

My site went upto 11th position last day then dropped and placed at 30th position.

Now I have made the title, meta keywords and meta description more seo friendly, by following websites over 1st page of competitive keyword and hope to get upto top again.

I have also removed bells & whistles & banner ads from the website and made it more look like SEO websites.

    Lets see what happen next.

    Google: 15
    Yahoo: 124
    Live: 105

    Google Index: 202

Yesterday earned $0.01 from AdSense, now total earning so far $0.43 :)
