I want to install Joomla as the CMS for my site. Is there any site that has a step-by-step guide for a newbie like myself?

If you are running a cPanel/Fantasico site-- use the auto install feature.

There's an easy way to install Joomla:

    1. Unpack the files and upload to the server where you want the site installed.
    2. Create a MySQL database to be used for the site.
    3. Access yourdomain.com/installation/install.php and before clicking anything to continue, make sure the file permissions are set correctly as per the list given onscreen.

From that point onwards, follow instructions to complete the installation. When done, make sure the /installation folder is removed from the server.

You should be good to go from there :)

Joomla is very easy to install. You have to do two things :

Make a database for your site in phpMyAdmin (that's what I use with Xampp anyway), and then run the Joomla! installation, by accessing the page joomla is on; if you are developing locally this is your local host. If you're developing on a website (does anyone do that?) well, develop locally before publishing ^^. SO anyway, your site being in the directory ...httdocs/MeistroIsAwesome your local host for the site is http://localhost/MeistroIsAwesome you just type that in ur browser address and its ez to follow instructions. all u gotta know is ur password ^_^
