    Hi,

I have designed a website in Joomla and hosted in a domain. Now, I wanted to change the domain. Can someone help me how to get this done?

For Example : I have hosted the Joomla website on abcd.com; now I want the same website to be hosted on abcd.org

    Thanks in advance.

You need to add your new domain to your hosting account and move your site from one folder to another.
In case you keep your hosting account the same.
After that you need to make some changes in your Joomla configuration file and admin panel (change site url, root way to your folder and cache folders etc).

    Thanks for the reply.

Doesn't it effect the logins which were already there? Will I be able to administer the website as earlier in .com?

also, I have a PHPBB forum as a sub-domain in it. Do I need to install PHPBB and Joomla on the new domain?

    Thanks again,

    Kiran

No, it will not make any effect on your site, as DB remains the same and on the same server.

As for your forum, you will need to do some changes in its config files too.

There is no need to set it up again on your new domain, just transfer it from old folder and change folder name in config file.

Ok. Anyway, if there'd be any problems, you can always give it to me. Check my sign for that.
If I helped and everything goes fine, you can add some rep;)

Backup your MySQL database then start installing Joomla again on the different site and use the database what was used in the previous site, results will be the exact same

Note: Make sure if you have any mods installed you put the files in the new site too
