Download link (since you want point A): http://learnbythedrop.com/system/files/Beginners Guide To Drupal.pdf

But if you're a real beginner and want it easy, Drupal might not be for you anyway, if you like point and click, use something else. There are enough geeks out there so that Drupal doesn't need to be too easy to survive.

I don't understand what you said about Joomla and SEO. Joomla has a couple of plugins tha make url seo freinedly. Joomla is perfect for that.

Thanks guys. Quick question, I tried loading drupal on localhost with wamp. apparently drupal 6 doesn't support php 5.3. ok, understood. so i loaded up php 5.210. then nothing worked, not even wamp. lol, and not even the drop guy answered anyone's questions on this and there were 100 other people with the same problem. none of us could get wamp and drupal to work on localhost. which led us to worry that if we were to load it up on a hosting server it would be a big mess.

I have no idea if XAMPP should work for drupal, but I know it
    works for Joomla and Wordpress.

The links I gave you for the guide were for Joomla, not Drupal.

Ah I switched to xampp instead of wampserver and didn't have a problem. with wampserver i was trying to configure apache and php on my own. now that's scary. that's as scary as George Bush senior's son winning the presidency. Oh wait, he did win. Thought it was a dream for a second.

Security is the most important thing when doing business on-line or it should be. As a seasoned Mambo/Joomla user I feel this thread has opened up my eyes to Drupal in a way I couldn't see before.

Thanks for taking the time to write the post! Now, I think I'll go play with again. ;)

Very nice, short , straight to the point, and sweet. I have been using drupal for about a month now and I love it. I do have to admit the learning curve is a bit steep and i myself am a web applications developer, but I have done little to almost no coding to get my site up and running. I have never used Joomla , i've seen it in action though and looks nice, definitely more appealing to the eye out of the box, but there is nothing i havn't been able to do with drupal. you say that joomla has a bigger community, but i would disagree with that, I mean google, backs drupal and its development, Imagine the community behind google. Anyways, whichever people decide to use the idea is that it makes life easier plain and simple. The things ive accomplished with drupal in a few days of configuring and setting up, it would have taken me weeks to program it myself without those friendly modules. This is great for me because I spend 8-10 hours a day programming, its refreshing to be able to come home and work with drupal and not have to program. life is good.

If you want to go for a more programming way of approaching a website, go for Drupal. If you are more interested in the design, go for Joomla. Those are some very very raw arguments. :)

Shouldn't the SEO issues with joomla be resolved by now?
I've seen some Joomla sites that look quite SEF and SEO.

I started installing both Drupal and Joomla on respective web sites and want to teach myself over time to use it properly.
