Drupal is way better than Joomla. Joomla is poorly constructed and has really bad structure in files. Isn't as modular as Drupal.
Drupal is advertised to be more advanced and developer friendly while Joomla should be more user friendly. Joomla seems to handle automated updates better than Drupal but easiest to use seems WordPress.

Personally not much of a Joomla fan. Strange enough as it is the first CMS I ever used. It was good for learning everything, but when I started regularly developing websites it just did not cut it. Not I've stuck mostly to WordPress and Drupal. If it's ecommerce nothing beats a ecommerce cms platform.
