I wanna create a website for a DJ so basiclly this website is going to be a online community for fans. I want them to be able to rate, review, listen to the music. I would also like a poll features and everything else you would expect for a fan website.

I dont know what to choose or what would be best for this Joomla or Drupal. I'm more of a php-nuke or phpbb kind of person but I've been seeing post about what people can do with these scripts I would like to know what you think

    Thank you,

    - Joseph

Joomala hands down will be best for you,

    Joomala has built in Polls.
Joomala has a extension called community builder for people who have community sites.
Joomala has a AJAX star rating that you can download. there is also a more detailed review system extension available.

The best CMS with lots of extension in the world is only Joomla. When i think of CMS it has to be Joomla..

Lots and lots of extension available for all kinds of work, so i would tell that go for joomla its easy as well as pro you can handle/make it as you like..

EDIT: you can find all the extensions. mods, components at: extensions.joomla.org

    Simply its awesome.

    hope this helps....

Joomla, the components and modules are fantastic and the support you get is second to none.

Personally id suggest you check out rockethemes and templateplazza for some ideas too

If you are going to build a community site. You should go with Drupal.

I am currently moving a Joomla site with 1100 pages over to Drupal so my users have more access to adding content.

Make one site with Joomla, and one with Drupal, and decide for yourself.

    From my experience...

    Joomla:
    Pros
Very easy to use admin section
Lots of themes and modules available

    Cons
I have actually had two Joomla sites hacked, one time it brought down my entire server including several other clients sites. Joomla itself is pretty secure but the problem is that many Joomla modules aren't coded well and lead to many security holes. One site was hacked though a popular image gallery module and the other was a contact form module.
The other issue I have is that the last time I tried looking for modules I couldn't even get to half of them and others required registration since the modules are hosted by individuals and not on Joomlas servers.

    Drupal:
    Pros
Tons of modules and since they are hosted by Drupal they are easy to download. I think because of Drupals form API and other tools available to module developers that it forces developers to write better code. Don't get me wrong I have seen a lot of poor coding in Drupal modules but I have never heard of any security issues like with Joomla.

    Cons
The admin section is a little more difficult to figure out and isn't nearly as organized as Joomlas

Overall I would HIGHLY suggest Drupal over Joomla unless you are a complete beginner and just want to have a quick simple site. However, anything beyond a quick very simple site I would go with Drupal for sure.

I would say drupal but there are no good looking themes. Unless you want to make your own themes go with Joomla
