Help... I switched from joomla to wordpress. the problem is now the long Joomla Urls which starts in index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=40 Code (markup): is now being redirected to my http://example.com home page. I submitted url removal for all URL's that was index in my joomla and added a string in my robots.txt Disallow: /index.php* Code (markup): Is this the right thing. Thanks for spending time to read this. Any help is appreciated.
Hi USPB. It might take some time but the best option here is to go through your entire site and create 301 redirects from all your old pages to their new equivalents. This will ensure google updates their index accordingly. What you have done currently will mean every page you have indexed currently will be dropped from google completely. Hope this helps
It depends... If the content that was at index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=40 no longer exists youre best to throw a 404 or 301 to your homepage. It will make the urls in the index update. If the content is on a new URL... Create a 301 redirect to the new URL. Hope this helps
