Anyone know of a free or paid template that you can find online to have a joomla setup like www.joomladirectory.co.uk?

It's like running PHPLD but the power of Joomla... :D

If anyone knows your help would be greatly appreciated.

I am using it now but it is so limiting. What happens when your site develops and grows it has to be scalable. If you can get a simple function like PHPLD implemented through a cleverly designed template using joomla the data will be much easier to manage as time goes on. In 3 years I'd still like to be working on the website not in it with an out of date and limited admin section.

You may be ok with PHPLd as it is quite good as a directory script, but..
If you want a website that can be flexible to structure and functionality extending, then you need a CMS.
That's where I support Dubz, get yourself a CMS like Joomla and you can worry about ways to extend your site later on.

I"ve searched through the joomla extensions directory endlessly and never found what I was looking for. As psyberweb mentioned it's just a component and it's not the most attractive one that. Furthermore it requires a fair bit of modding just to make it look attractive and you can't use the data from it as it's stored in the component and not as content items. You need something that stores each individual submission as a content item so you can take advantage of all the options like most popular, latest for whichever category and a host of others. If you are going to add comments / ratings it's taking it a whole step further. Personally the best I've ever seen is this guy I came across who made http://www.hotflair.com/ it looks just like a typical one but on the backend your in joomla. If I have alot of data there is nowhere else I'd want to be.
