Joomla SEO problem

I've been using Joomla for a few days and I can't seem to solve my problem with SEO.

I renamed htaccess.txt to .htaccess, then I turn my SEO option "On". After which I get 404 pages on whenever I click on a link on my site.

I've been searching and can't seem to figure it out.

    Any input would be appreciated

    Thanks
    Bryan

Edit the htaccess file: you'll find comments in there. I had the same thing until I read the actual file and saw that I had to either comment out or uncomment something because of my server situation...

Turn your Joomla SEO off first. Then see if there's still a problem. I found that even with SEO turned off, the htaccess caused problems until I edited it correctly.

If, once you've turned SEO off, there's no problems, then I don't know. Last I looked, though, there were a number of 'options' for editing the file... have you tried all of them?

does your server allow you to use .htacces file ? maybe you must configure somethink related with your hosting.
