Between the two I would say WordPress, however if you have a decent budget there are many custom built Content Management Systems out there that are super easy to update and often have much better support that goes along with them.

I have tried joomla and drupal and in the end went with wordpress. Wordpress can be a cms or a blog or both. Joomla only works as a cms.

Developing a wordpress theme with all the different plugins is much easier and there is far reaching support for it.

Also it rocks in terms of seo pretty much out the box.

I say Joomla. Only because you ask on a Wordpress forum. What do you expect people to say if you ask all Wordpress users?
Not to mention that every few weeks someone starts a similar thread..."Joomla or Wordrpess", "Wordpress or Blogger", "Wordpress or Drupal"..over and over again month after month.

So yes, I say that you should stay as far away from Wordpress as you can and use Joomla.

As a new user for both joomla & wordpress I think wordpress wins due to the simplicity of it and the amount of themes available. The whole interface is much better in wordpress and there seems to be many more powerful plugin's been created for it. I also find wordpress to be more seo friendly.

From my personal experience I would have to say that I prefer Wordpress. The reason why is for me Wordpress has a lot more flexibility and a variety of plugins and themes. It seems that there are a lot of developers and small business owners around the world that continue to put create and develope new themes and tools to Wordpress all the time. Keep in mind I do like Joomla also but for me Wordpress is just a superior product.
