Love Joomla, but I've been doing it since it was Mambo. The best advice I ever got was from another user, who explained setting up sections and then categories.

Using 1.5 for most of my new sites, again a small learning curve. The amount of non-branded templates for Joomla is staggering...along with the amount of plugins.

I first decide what the sites are going to do, and then I decide which version of the CMS to use based on what plugins I need.

I have both Joomla and WordPress sites and find the Joomla ones easier to manage...because I know what I'm doing.

Wordpress! is easy & better use but Joomla is advanced with endless features!

I prefer WP! because its customization is easier than Joomla :D

Yep, I agree with uzair21 and jezzz. You can do almost anything with Joomla, however, the learning curve is much steeper than wordpress.

Choose Joomla for a larger site, choose Wordpress for smaller sites.

As far as SEO goes, I believe they should be close if not equal in that category with
    the release of Joomla 1.5.

    Good luck

Joomla is a complete content management system. Wordpress is more focussed on blogs, but can be used as a CMS also. Joomla is more complex to setup and administrate where Wordpress is easier to manage.

Wordpress and Joomla are two different purposes CMS.

Wordpress is for blog and simple website system like small e-commerce system (my "small" meaning suits to almost e-commerce websites here), social networking websites, business homepage websites. Wordpress is easier-to-use than Joomla in users' views. One more strong point of wordpress is SE friendly. Wordpress itself is a blog sysytem, and Google loves blogs. Then with the same backlink building strategy, a wordpress website should have better organic traffic than Joomla website.

Joomla is a much more advanced CMS. It suits to advanced system like complicated social networking, portals, ... Joomla is difficult to use for users.

All depends on your usage purpose.
