I have a client who has requested the following (see below) but I don't know whether I should use Joomla or WP. The client is not tech savvy but wants to be able to handle content management like article, bogs, videos and pictures. Which CMS should I use?

I already have a joomla template and the modules that I would use but have nothing for WP. I am seeking a programmer and designer for this so you can PM me for more details as well...

    -Main

    Logo
The logo will remain in that location throughout the site.

    Homepage
This page will essentially showcase the most current episode (video), which will be broken down into four parts. The user will have the option upon coming to the site, to press play and begin the episode. Although the episodes will be broken down into four parts, it should play back-to-back all the way through if uninterrupted by the user. They can also choose to select the various parts (snapshots) and watch that particular clip, somewhat similar to Youtube.com.
Admin: Admin will need the ability to add/delete/edit all video content on this and all pages that display video content. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes.

The advertising banners will vary from page to page. They should be consistent with all other pages in size and general location. There is a total of 4-5 on each page. The fifth one is the Comments section, which will change from page to page.
Admin: Admin will need the ability to add/delete/edit all banner advertisement on this site. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes.

    Calendar
The calendar will show the current month with events being highlighted on the dates that they fall on. When the user clicks on the hyperlinked event, the user will be taken to a Calendar/Events page, where they get the full calendar and the events for that day. The user should be able to RSVP for that event if they are registered members of the site.
Admin: Admin will need the ability to add/delete/edit all calendar entries/events on this site. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes.

    Submit An Event
This section should allow the user to submit events that they want posted on the Calendar by clicking on that area (button). It should be its own page and something similar to Myspace in regards to their create events page. Similar in that the fields will be the same, but the look and design will be consistent with the website’s design.
Admin: Admin should be able to review the events submitted and have the option to add/delete/modify those submissions. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes.

    Featured Events
This area will show the featured event for that day or the next upcoming event. They should be able to see the details of that event and depending on the space see more than one.
Admin: Admin should be able to select which events will be featured when adding/deleting/modifying events in the calendar management area.

    Comments
This section is where comments relating to the show (video) can be posted by viewers. Viewers must be registered to post comments in that section. The section size shouldn’t change, just the number of pages, somewhat similar to Youtube.com. This area will also serves as an Ad banner on some pages that do not have video content, e.g. About Us.
Admin: Admin will need the ability to add/delete/edit all comments in this section. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes.

    The Show Ads
This will be an ad space (banner) dedicated to advertising information about “the show”, e.g. casting calls, etc. The ad should vary from page to page.
Admin: Admin will need the ability to add/delete/edit all banner advertisement on this site. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes.

    About Us
This page will feature a picture towards the top and text underneath giving general information about the company and the show.
Admin: Admin will need the ability to add/delete/edit all pictures and text on this page. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes.

    Cast/Crew
This page will feature a picture of each cast member and text (information) next to the picture on the right giving general bio information about each member.
Admin: Admin will need the ability to add/delete/edit all pictures and text on this page. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes.

    Previous Episodes
The section will feature previous episodes of the show. It will look similar to the home page in regard to set-up, but will allow registered members to also see/select the previous three episodes. (Please review the mock up for this page to get a better idea of how users will be able to view the previous episodes.
Admin: Admin will need the ability to add/delete/edit all video content on this page. Admin will need an easy to use admin backend to make said changes. The show will air weekly and each new episode will eventually become a previous episode. There should be an easy way to transition from new episode to previous episode.

    Contact Us
This page will provide contact information and a submission form. The form should include a Select Category drop-down, an area for name, email address, comments, and send and clear form buttons.
Admin: Admin should be able to receive these messages as the messages are forward to an email address, probably the same as the one provided in the contact information.Admin should also be able add/update/ modify the contact info that the user sees as well as the email address that the submitted messages are forwarded to.

    Sign-Up
This page should be simple and include username, email address, password, gender, income level drop-down, age, and zip code. There should be the standard check box that they understand and agree to the terms of the site. There should also be a section where they can sign-up to receive information from the site. (The reason for visitors to sign up is to be able to post comments, RSVP for events, and view old shows/video.)
Admin: No admin needed for this particular section. There will be a need for Admin to add/delete/modify users as a whole.

Members will use this page to login to the site. The login will ask for their username and password and should be set-up like most login pages, to include options to sign up, forget password, etc.

    -Misc.

This link allows the user to easily make “the show” their home page.

Add “the show” to your Favorites
This link allows the user to easily add “the show” to their favorites.

    Tell-A-Friend
This link allows the member, through a pop-up window, to send friends a prewritten email encouraging them to join the site. (It should be similar to sending an article from CNN to a friend.)

    Terms & Conditions
This page is a simple document page outlining the terms and conditions of use for members or visitors as it relates to the site.

    Privacy Policy
This page is a simple document page outlining the privacy policy that the company will adhere to.

This page is a form page for potential advertisers to fill out if interested in advertising on “the show”.

This page is your standard sitemap breaking down the major categories and subsections of the website allowing the user to see a high level view of how the website is organized. The user will also be able to click on the hyperlinks associated with each page and be able to access that page.

I would say try to modify wordpress. Whenever I give clients who are not tech savvy lessons in using Joomla, it never goes well. It just seems to much of a hassle for newer clients to use..

Yes, go with either Joomla or Drupal for/to :

    - manage contents
    - logins
    - manage ads
    - news
    - articles
    - rss
    - commentable articles
    - gallery
    - social bookmarks
    - blogs

    Extra :

    - Try Azrul.com's JomComment and MyBlog

    - Social bookmark mod, I'm using this one http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,2745/Itemid,35/

I would recommend to use Joomla. It has more flexibility than Wordpress to build your kind of website.

joomla is probably better, considering the scale of the site you're proposing. I've had similar experience to Plexess though, clients getting lost while maintaining their sites. make sure you give them the manual

You could pull this off in Wordpress quite easily with plugins, but Joomla or others may be a more natural fit.
