Joomla by far! I use it for a number of sites I own.... great management system and tools, excellent addons make it extremely customisable and is good for SEO too.

Most webhosts would be able to manage it, well paid for ones that is.

who needs tech support when you have the internet? ;)

    Drupal.

I tried Drupal for the first time a couple of months ago and built a website out of it

I couldn't believe the level of functionality that it has to offer.

    Joomla is whack in comparison.

For starters, it's just so big... it now has over 3,000 separate files for the core download, while Drupal has a fraction of that.

I suppose Drupal being the older project that it should be more advanced, but Joomla took nearly two years to reach 1.5 with the main change in this being extended character sets for right to left languages and enhanced internationalization and worldwide use.

For the English user there is hardly any new editions to its basic core, other than better SEO for titles.

When I looked at Joomla a couple of months ago, not long after they released 1.5, most modules were not ready for 1.5, also, I was surprised by how few new decent modules there were - I guess the uncertainty around the project has put developers off from contributing third party add-ons.

I think that novices may find Joomla better, but then move on to Drupal because it has far more to offer for serious webmasters, designers and coders.

I like Joomla for the templates, but I think Drupal is far superior in terms of performance.

Drupal has superior performance and developers. It's a great framework but it has disorganized documentation and poor themes.

i agree with the above. Joomla or mambo are good for heavy customization, some good templates too.

    Joomla counts
    "# Functionality
    # System requirements
    # User-friendliness"

Plus the themes. So many people working on joomla and making mods and themes and addons. So Joomla is a better choice

I would have thought Joomla was more popular considering how many DPers swear by it.
