Joomla or Drupal

Hello, is Drupal or Joomla good CMS to use for a company website?

 

I would go for new Joomla

 

thanks...what is easier to use for a new user like me?

 

i think Drupal might be easier to setup.. Joomla might look better...

 

what ar you needs?
if you want to theme very easy -->drupal
you want a admin menu with images?-->Joomla!

mm, we used more then a year "joomla" but cause of the lack of a phpbb bridge we switched over to drupal and where still expanding the site...

if its up to me:
drupal

but again joomla and drupal ar both good

 

I have not used Drupal so I do not know much about this. I used Joomla for my site and it is really easy to use.
I bought domain name and hosting at Godaddy so I had this installed from hosting control. Then I step by step built my website. I think Joomla has all mods you need to build any type of website. You can have a look at its website: www.joomla.org then "Extensions".
However, please do not install all the extensions you like. Please think carefully before install them on your website because they might cause troubles.

Agreed, there have tons of free or paid templates for joomal, but little paid template for drupal.
Drupal is faster than joomla.

 

Out-of-the box Joomla websites have some serious indexing problems... unless you going to heavily modify the default distribution I would stay away from it...

I have never used either... I have only seen them in action and I was not impressed with Joomla at all... Drupal on the other hand looks quite sophisticated on the inside... I do remember downloading it and taking a peek at the source... I believe it was practically entirely OOP... which might be a bonus for some people...

 

for me if you want a very complete website, try joomla..it's very easy to install but not very easy to customize for your needs..
as for drupal, i think it's a cms for hard coders and it's not a cms for coder newbies..but in the end, it's you that decide

Coding Standards - Drupal has high coding standards, Joomla has ok

Looks - That purely depends on which/how you prepare template / theme. Both can have great look if initial concept layout is good

Readymade Extension/modules - Numbers are more with Joomla, Drupal has almost all facility but one option available with it

Admin looks - Joomla goes more than Drupal

Um...we use Joomla almost exclusively and even with its built in SEO, I haven't had any indexing problems on tons of sites. With one of the many SEF extensions, it rocks. You do NOT have to "heavily modify the default distribution", far from it.

I would recommend Joomla. It is more complicated to install if you don't have cpanel (a control panel with many hosts), but there are tons of tutorials and the joomla.org forums are a treasure trove of info.

 

Joomla - if you're looking for whole lot themes. As for Drupal - I don't know I would need it for a company that would have say 10 - 50 pages content! I've been running Joomla for more than 3 month now and love it. Here is the latest site I did using Joomla.

 

Joomla has a very confusing admin area. I would say use drupal because the admin is area is more organized and it is a "lighter" cms.

Yup, Joomla for loads of themes, Drupal for more speed, scaleability and flexibility...

 

It's custom made.

Joomla is my choice now. Initially I have the impression it was difficult to master - as the admin area are so confusing and you have this literally hundred of mambot, modules to install. But after basically two month - I manage run a site like this for my customer. They insist on using Joomla that's why I have no choice but to learn.

Drupal is best for speed, scalability as Red Paul said.

 

There are both good CMSs. But I think Joomla has more mods than drupal

Disclaimer: I have never used Drupal.

I like that I can have a decent looking site up in two hours if I already have content.

My initial learning curve difficulty was that Joomla isn't anything like a traditional site. You define sections and sub-sections(categories). Then add content. Then you add menus that control how the content is displayed.

Modules are accessory items, "bolt-ons" that display whatever you want in any of the template defined module positions on the page.

My site has a lot of tutorials and videos on setting up a joomla site. The videos are a paid membership, but very reasonable for what you get.
