i think there are a lot of threads around on this forum which deal with a similar topic.. so you are better off searching for the same.

As for which is better, I thinks its all a matter of which one you are comfortable with. I found Joomla very confusing and so switched over to Drupal. Haven't gone back since.

Its probably just a matter of choice

Having lot of extensions doesnt make it more secure.
Implementing in core does. Drupal has better management of sessions and security.

Are you sure? As far as i know joomla is worst for its security
Everytime they release new upgrades, and security patches they always have security issues.
Drupal's security is far more better.

This question gets beat to death. Asked over adn over. I prefer Joomla. At the time I chose Drupal was in a state of flux. Joomla has a huge user base and some nice add ons. Drupal is also widely used. Best thing to do is set up a test site and do a quick install. See which one you like. See if there are plugins that meet your needs for site development.

Lately however I've been using Wordpress as a CMS for all my smaller projects.

    Good luck.

I would prefer Drupal. Joomla's admin area takes a bit of getting used to and I'm not that big a fan of their templates.

When you need a site up and running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year - go with drupal. Joomla is NOT as secure as what everyone brags that it is.

Just do a google search for big sites running joomla. Then do a search for big sites running drupal.

When you see the list of big sites running drupal, you will not even consider joomla.

After trying both, I have to say I prefer Drupal. Everything is tighter, answers were easier to find, no major issues, and once you get the hang of it, you can have the framework of a decent site up in HOURS. :D

I have worked with both, and whether one is better than the other depends on what's important to you.

Joomla is more popular than Drupal because Joomla is easier to set up and use -- at least the core product. It appeals to people with a certain skill set.

Drupal is better from a programming standpoint and is more popular with hard-core site admins who are comfortable with programming. Also, if you ask a newbie question at joomla.org, you'll almost certainly get an answer. If you ask a newbie question at drupal.org, there is a good chance you won't. At least that was my experience.

So if you are new to this, I would recommend Joomla. If you are experienced, I would recommend Drupal.

personally I think joomla has a lot of extensions and this brings forth a lot of security problems.

    joomla is very user friendly.

between joomla and drupal support, joomla gets more responses.

drupal is more popular with large companies because of the security issues with joomla.

    I have used both.

We definitely prefer Joomla - The best part about Joomla is that you just think of a feature, and there are plenty of plugins related to that plugin. Though Drupal is also good, but the overall flow of Joomla is much better.
