I have a Joomla site for CMS but for big editing use Dreamweaver to get clean results.
Joomla works for me for day to day on the run editing of content, but once a month it is nice to clean the code and make sure it is all SE friendly on Dreamweaver.

If you really want to design a website and not be stuck to templates I would recommend Dreamweaver. The down side of it is it will take a lot of training to be able create a site using Dreamweaver.

Joomla & Dreameaver – two seperate systems both have very different uses/features.

Dreameaver is a Code Editor/WYSIWYG Editor, it is software used to build websites.

Joomla on the other hand is a CMS – Content Management System – it's a web based application that allows management of a website through a GUI on the web. It's extensible via modules, components, mambots, templates etc. It has a steep learning curve and can be a pain to theme for (I know!)

There is no preferable option as both have different applications of use.

If you want to manage your site with ease use Joomla, if you aren't going to update the site then use Dreamweaver.

Joomla you can integrate a forum into it, where as a external forum software such as PHPBB or vB you'll have to theme it to fit your site.

    Dreamweaver is a code editor
Joomla is a CMS (Content Management System)
You can edit code of Joomla (PHP, CSS) with Dreamweaver.

With Dreamweaver..build website from 0. It's means you have to know at least the basic of HTML. Would be very good if you know PHP, CSS, and other web programming language

With Joomla..install template and replace with your own content :D
Install new feature/application will be very easy...just install thid component.
To modification..you have to know at least CSS.

I used to use dreamweaver. When I upgraded all hell broke loose. The software would not even make a hyperlink correctly. I am on CS3. Joomla uses an administrative panel that is fairly easy to use. I still use dreamweaver to write html that I paste into the joomla articles. Save your money and use joomla for free.

Joomla is a Content Management System with which you can create a dynamic web site just by managing the contents on it. It is of no need that developing a web site using joomla requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage.
Dreamweaver is a complex web designing tool for deigning simple page or dynamic web pages written with ColdFusion, PHP, ASP, CSS, XML, XSLT, and JavaScript.
Joomla can create the SEO ready web sites and there is a vast range of joomla templates, pluginns and extensions.

Joomla has lots of functionality. It's a good tool and should definitely be considered. To learn more about it, check out our Joomla Review that we just published.

Joomla is a content manager. But the best point for Joomla is extensions. So many choices, so many ways to customize your site if you use Joomla.
