Joomla is usually good for mantaining websites while dreamweaver is good for designing custom HTML maybe for a custom script.
So if I understand, Joomla can make me update my page faster. I have my Wordpress blogs for that. But I see now, Joomla would allow me to update the site. It's something I will definitively think about. I will try Joomla with my best niche, the one I'm most involved in.
You can find a lot of extension for joomla here http://extensions.joomla.org/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=listcats&cat_id=1822&Itemid=35 There is a "Banner Ads & Affiliates" categorie very usefull
i've got no idea abt mambo,, but i currently have 2 websites made using joomla and they are pretty good,, if ur a beginner i wud certainly recommend joomla (thats if u have no idea abt making databases and all that complicated stuff).. just get a good joomla template (one thats compatible with all browsers) and make the site(its 100 times faster than using dreamweaver and the site will look better)... and i dont believe all this abt joomla sites getting hacked, there r ways to avoid that... Make Money Fast
Dream weaver is just a code editor ..and a desktop design software...this is time consuming process ..because the design part what we choose is to be planned and implemented accordingly...but joomla has a default templates designed for you..what your irole is just pick the best design and modify the contents ....it is a cms based technology ...we can make the server disabled for 2 0r 3 days for re-construction of the content and design by logging in as administrator with the basic knowledge of html, css, php and my sql. But dream weaver doesn't have this facility...
To be honest for affiliate sites I would use Wordpress over Joomla. Joomla comes into its own when you want something more complex. In my opinion Both Joomla nad Wordpress beat hand coding websites using dreamweaver hands down. I can create a decent looking site on Wordpress in about 30 minutes, on Joomla a couple of hours and both have the advantage that if you want to make changes it is much faster and simnpler than working with static sites.
Dream weaver is just a flat desktop design software. The contents in the site cannot be changed, instead we have to create a new site.Joomla! is an open source content management system platform for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets as well as a Model–view–controller (MVC) Web application framework. It is written in PHP, stores data in MySQL and includes features such as page caching, RSS feeds, printable versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, polls, search, and support for language internationalization.
I have no knowledge of html coding. My requirement is building a complex website consisting o features like forums, community, chat, blogs. We are in the process of making it using joomla, with external things like phpbb(forum). elgg(community) and wordpress(blog) embedded as wrapper.( similar modules on joomla are not that gr8). However now everything seems to be falling apart. We r not able to scroll the pages, the modules seems to be fighting for space on the page. Even I have to log in differently for WP, joomla and elgg. 1. What could be the problem? Is it merging of databases alone? 2. Should I continue with joomla or consider other options like DNN? What is the guarantee that same things wud nt happen on DNN? Please help.
I would say stick with Joomla, but it sounds like a pretty complex project and I would suggest that you might like to look at finding an outsourcer to do it for you. Check out rentacoder.com or freelancer.com. If you know nothing about outsourcing I am going to do a blatant plug for my recent webinar on outsourcing at http://niche365.com/outsourcingreplay!
@Justinwh and @Jlownby: Thnx Will start a new thread on the problem m encountering, don't want to change the course of original topic
Joomla and Dreamweaver are two different entities one is CMS(content manage system) and the other is an application you cant relate those two different entities ...
