Hi guys, I wondered if anybody could help me. I am working on a client's site which uses Joomla and want to run a blog using Wordpress in it. I know that the Joomla CMS doesn't allow you to do this directly but I'm sure there is a way around it. If we call the domain http://DOMAIN.com, the hosting company has created a new folder for me at http://DOMAIN.com/blog Now I believe I need to use an ftp client to install Wordpress into this folder through Joomla so was going to use Filezilla. Does anyone have experience with this process? The rest of the site will be untouched and left as it is but I want the URL http://DOMAIN.com/blog to link to the Wordpress blog which I would like to use then on for updating the blog by going to http://DOMAIN.com/blog/wp-admin to sign in to Wordpress with full functionality. Any help would be appreciated!
Right, I've just been given access to the cPanel as well. In the File Manager there is a folder created called public_html/blog already (though its empty of course). Can I just upload Wordpress into this folder (i.e. download it from Wordpress.com, unzip it and then upload the folder of files)? From then on I'll be able to access it at http://DOMAIN.com/blog/wp-admin/ right?
Hey Blue Star, cheers for the link, would rather not pay though if I can do it free another way. The web developer who built the site told me I need to "create a new database in the folder" before I can upload Wordpress into it. Can anybody tell me how I go about doing that? Is he talking about an SQL database? He's too busy to help me himself by the way. Cheers guys!
Wow... you are going to be learning, eh ? Yes, it is MySql and more than likely you do not create it in the folder. If you are using cPanel, it should have a database wizard to create new databases and users. Cheers !
Thanks guys for your help! Rep to you both! Am trying to work through the process now so will see what happens!
