It is a content management system that does a wide range of things if you want. I don't really suggest deploying anything to serious with it but if you are new to web stuff its a good way to learn some things. I find to the be a convoluted mess myself. Joomla is one of the best Content Management Systems. You use it to handle information. This information is in graphic or text or audio form. That is about all the internet has to offer, those three formats. Joomla handles this content intelligently and dynamically using a database. If you have big plans for your site and do not want to have to learn code, use Joomla. You will be glad you did. If you have smaller plans for your site, use Wordpress.
