    im looking to do a points system, where u enter a persons name, and points awarded into a form, but im not quite sure what would be the best way to approach this.....are there any addons or tips that anyone could give me,,,they would be greatly appreciated

    There is an existing extension for your requirements. Its CB ALPHA POINTS..
    You can get it from http://extensions.joomla.org
