Can anyone tell me if there is some kind of Joomla for Idiots? It seems like it is a very good CMS, but I could use a tutorial or something that explains what to do.

    Thanks.

the best advise i can give is to do a temp install and just play about with it, everything is controlled by modules / plugins. learn where the module positions are for whatever template you are using and play module position.

once you get the hang of that, its just a matter of customizing graphics/colors and placing modules where you would like them, then filling her up with content :p

Using a "practice site" is a great way to learn Joomla. If you are smart enough to create a test server on a local linux machine, you can learn a lot. forum.joomla.org is a good community resource with a lot of smart Joomla users that can help you with specific problems or issues.

If you're going to do a local test of a Joomla install then you might want to have a look at JSAS or XAMPP for setting up a local environment. They're both good but I've been getting to grips with XAMPP recently and it seems to be pretty configurable...

I'm running a joomla website. It is not that difficult to understand how it works. Only take care when you use third party components or modules because sometimes they are not hacker safe.

I think you can purchase Joomla Magic video tutorials. Just find it in ebay. Really good video for a beginner to setup joomla.
