I’ve started using joomla on a new site and am really enjoying it. It seems to be very robust and there are a bunch of very useful extensions available. I’m still looking for other extensions to make my site a bit more unique.

Where can I find more extensions and what extensions do you personally like?

Please if you know of any good extensions let me know so I can try it out.

    http://extensions.joomla.org
http://mamboxchange.com/ (check for compatibility w/ joomla on extensions found here)

here are some extensions i've used & found to be pretty decent.

ArtBanners is a great deal better than the default banners component. Most questions I see about various banner component issues are easily solved with ArtBanners

Feedgator is an excellent rss component with more features than the default newsfeed component

the Joomlaspan Adsense Clicksafe modules are nice. there are some modified versions of these modules as well to offer revenue sharing. the googlebot to insert adsense ads into code is excellent as well.

i find the iJoomla Metatag Generator a useful component.

Community Builder is a pretty cool component to enhance the users features. there are lots of plugins for it, and it plays well with many other joomla extensions.

joomlaboard may be a simple forum, but if it's all you need it integrates smoothly & if you decide to use it, be sure to grab the discussbot mambot.

the zOOm media gallery picture gallery extension works fairly well. i had better luck with it than with RSGallery.

artist avenue is a pretty cool artist directory (mainly for musical artists) can upload songs, etc.

there's an events component & related modules that i found to work really well..

Extended Menu is very slick and worked well.

Thanks for the list, I’ve used so of those extensions and they are in fact very good. Currently I’ using Flash Rotator for my banners but it seems to have some problems in EI because it won’t let me click on the images. Is there any other banner extension that has the option to configure the size of the banners?

 i'm pretty sure you just upload the size you want and make the area of the template the banner module is diplayed in appropriate.

One component that is essential for any joomla site is a Google Adsense module. well its a good thing only a few days ago i submited a module that i developed to joomla.org . You can test out my module and tell me what you think http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,839/Itemid,35/

so it's basically a very simple adsense module. the only feature i see different from the joomlaspan modules is you can input multiple adsense id's & it will randomly use one..
    curious as to the purpose??

A site similar to mamboportal.com was very helpful before during the mambo days. Components, themes, modules, mabots etc.. can be downloaded on a single area. The owner , Arthur opted to stop the service now. Seems nobody is donating for the cost the he incurs.

Now its joomlaya.com I find as replacement to mamboportal.com .

sorry i don't see much point in supporting something that has essentially been done, when i don't see the value added by any new "features"

I only see a single extension you created yourself & I can't find a description of what exactly it does. All it says is...
what does that mean

I made the Digg Joomla module -- don't know if it works anymore though, since I haven't had any feedback in a while.

A must have is JoomlaXplorer. It will alow you to check and modify any files in your joomla site including changing permissions. It can be downloaded from the joomla extensions site. Also you may want to click on the 'New Extensions' link to see a list of all the new additions.

I'll seconf Joomla explorer. DocMan is also worth a look if you offer downloads. One of the best I have found is Feedgator which imports and parses RSS feeds into the site to create content.

FeedGator helps me alot, but for the pic gallery ( warning! ) if you use zOOm, dont try to upgrade to Joomla 1.0.10 if you have thousands image in it, it will break your leg, trust me, I have to download my 1GB of Joomla just because I have recently upgrade to Joomla 1.0.10 and my zOOm did'nt work anymore, users cannot upload pictures anymore, change permission whatever did'nt work, and that's really sucks!
