    I am starting my first joomla site and want to know what the best plugins are. The website is for downloading. Any recommendations?

    Also, is there any rotating scripts for ads i could use?

    Then a sitemap generator for fast indexing and some rating & comment components to get feedback on your content.

    Joomla extensions repository provides many for each category and you can choose based or their reviews and complexity depending on your needs and experience.

    For ads, there is a native component for ads banner
    I advice you to apply to AdSense program and use Phoca AdSense Easy.
