    Hello,

A friend of mine has a Joomla-based charity website with multiple contact forms on (about 50 I think), as the site acts as an central contact point for each of the different branches.

However, they are receiving a lot of spammy e-mails at the moment, where someone will sit and work through each of the contact forms on the site in turn. The people receiving these e-mails aren't necessarily too computer literate i.e. they don't recognise spam so the situation needs addressing.

I thought that maybe blocking multiple form sending by IP address would be possible, but I wouldn't know where to start to do this in Joomla.

If anyone can offer scripting assistance, please let me know how much you will charge.

    Thanks in advance,
    Emma

I help you for free ;)
    1. Solution try to get this com_securityimages3.0.0rc2.zip this will prevent spam.
    2. Solution just add a checkbox somewhere asking something like "are you sure to send it" or "filled out correct?" and it will prevent spam.

    Hi evera,

I think you've missed my point - it's manually sent spam, not automated, so the captcha idea and checkbox will not work.

The problem is that because it's a charity site that gives out money to known worthy causes, people try to scam them all the time - i.e. sit at their computer and send an e-mail to every branch via the branch's contact form on the parent site.

If there was some way to block a single IP address sending out more than say 3 messages by the contact form in a 24 hour period, this may work as a deterrant as these people are working by getting as many messages sent out as possible.

    Thanks anyway!

Ah ic, sorry my English sucks in the morning :)
Do users have to register to write something in the contact form?

I don't know exactly how to make it, but if users have to register before sending it is much easier for the admin to block em.

No, there is no registration requirement for the contact forms - I guess this would be one simpler solution. I'll suggest it to them, but I don't think they will go for it.

    Thanks!
