    VirtueMart is the best and very flexible in Joomla. What's the problem you got with VirtueMart? I've tried SimpleCaddy ones and sounds good but still I think VM is the best.

    For years, Joomla + virtuemart is my playground. I used great design from Rockettheme that was specially made for this purpose.
