For blogging, Wordpress is the most suitable platform for all of us. Joomla is great also but not suitable for beginner level.

Joomla mojoblog is a decent free alternative to Wordpress, they're supposed to release mojoblog 1.7 soon (1.0 versions), and then something called JBlog for Joomla 1.5+ but all that takes some time.

Right now, you can buy Wordpress or Wordpress MU that works with the latest version of Joomla.

    Check it out: http://www.corephp.com/

Also, another developer integrated Joomla with vBulletin, they offer a free plugin that syncs all the users and uses a universal registration system.

Wouldn't that be incredible SEO? Joomla with multi-user Wordpress blogs and a vBulletin forum? :)
