Joomla 1 series Vs Joomla 1.5, which one should i start with ?

Im still learning the ropes, have installed Joomla 1 on my computer with WAMP.
Im wondering if its better to forego anymore messing around in Joomla 1 and just go right ahead into setting up Joomla 1.5 instead.

Anyone that has used the systems have any opinion ?
Is 1.5 still "too new" for a live site ?

If you are new to joomla, it's better for you to start with joomla 1. Because joomla 1.5 is still in beta and many of the available extensions don't work with it.

    Thanks

Actually, it's now in RC and according to the website it should be OK to run on live sites.

As mok123 said, though, the extensions may be an issue. Really, it all depends on what you're going to do with the site: if it's going to be mainly content, I'd go with 1.5. If you want to be using a lot of extensions right now, stick with the 1.0.x series for the time being...

Im having some trouble getting it to do what i want though.
I want articles to be links to outside website... they only link back to my own site.

i think it's better to start with 1.0.x version.

there is also a migration component for migrating from 1.0.x to 1.5

I suggest to start with 1.0.13 version if you are seriously to setup a website, but If you prefer to setup a site only for interesting, not for business application, you could start with 1.5 as it is ithe future for Joomla.
