Hello all I am running seo friendly urls on Joomla 1.5.20 stable. However some of the urls its giving my stuff, are more friendly than others! For example my Nintendo History page I have specified the name "nintendo-history" as the alias and it produces the url as below. http://www.themariobros.net/nintendo-history.html Which is good right? because the url address is the same as the title of the page, and the content is relevant. However sometimes despite what I specify as the alias, I get weird url problems. Example 1. Under my games section > gameboy colour I have another link which goes to games > gameboy colour games > mario golf. The mario golf page alias is specified as "mario-golf". But the SEO url it generates is http://www.themariobros.net/game-boy-colour/64.html (64 is the articles ID in Joomla) as opposed to what I believe it SHOULD be http://www.themariobros.net/game-boy-colour/mario-golf.html Example 2. http://www.themariobros.net/about-qclassic-marioq.html the alias for this I have tried to change from "about-classic-mario" (previous site name) to "about-the-mario-bros". Weirdly its been adding some q's into the address as you can see above - and it wont change from that url at all now. Any idea why this may be? is there some sort of problem with the SEO stuff in 1.5? And why cant I amend existing seo urls? do I need to click something for them to be rewritten? Please help :-( I dont believe my site deserves to languish so far away from its previous rank 3 p1 position Best regards Luke
Hello, I've resolved the problem with the links in EXAMPLE 2. The identity from the menu link was overwrriting the page alias Example 2. http://www.themariobros.net/about-qclassic-marioq.html the alias for this I have tried to change from "about-classic-mario" (previous site name) to "about-the-mario-bros". Weirdly its been adding some q's into the address as you can see above - and it wont change from that url at all now. So that one is resolved. Any idea on the first one? :-/ Best regards Luke
Have you checked that you have a valid menu item linking that article? Also make sure this alias is not used in any other articles.
